D1.
Mission
To facilitate and promote the progress of engineering and international exchange of information and knowledge in the field of emerging materials and testing techniques. To add value to this information and knowledge through synthesis of advanced practices and development of guidelines and recommendations.
Technological Scope
The characteristics and performance features of solids, liquids, and gases used in the construction of AC and DC electrical transmission and distribution system components; Investigation and recommendation of new and revised testing and diagnostic techniques to support testing of AC and DC electrical transmission and distribution system components; Diagnostic techniques and related knowledge rules to support asset management of electrical equipment.
Scope
The activities of SC D1 relate to the characteristics, performance, and testing of solids, liquids, and gases under AC, DC, impulse, and other electrical stresses.
Characteristics and performance features of new and existing conductive and insulating materials for electro-technology; Aging of conductive and insulating materials under electrical, thermal, chemical, and electro-chemical stresses; Diagnostic and monitoring techniques, supported by digital knowledge and interpretation; Multi-component insulation arrangements with one or more dielectric materials used in combination with related conductive parts; New testing techniques and modifications to existing methods for evaluating performance and/or condition of insulator or conductor; Provision of timely information on new developments and trends in the field of emerging materials and testing techniques to other study committees and support in their analysis of the introduction and application of these materials and techniques.
