CIGRE, established in 1921 in Paris, France, is a global community committed to the collaborative development and sharing of power system expertise from end to end. The community includes thousands of professionals from over 90 countries and 1,250 member organizations, including some of the world's leading experts.
At its core are the 16 National Committees of CIGRE member countries offering diverse technical perspectives and expertise from every corner of the world. CIGRE creates and operates the world's most advanced programs and knowledge, spanning 16 professional groups that cover all core areas of the power system.
Across these domains, 250+ working groups produce solutions based on practical expertise for existing problems and future challenges facing the power system. CIGRE's knowledge dissemination includes an extensive activity program and various local and international events, culminating every two years in a session/general assembly in Paris, France. The conference represents unique thought leadership and is considered the number one unique event of the global power system.
During the last 100 years, CIGRE's work has made many contributions to the central technical foundations of the modern power system. CIGRE's knowledge and publications, developed through collaboration and sharing of 'real-world experiences,' are in many cases the authoritative source of reference information.
